Classes on specific disabilities are offered each month as a way for you to stay
up-to-date on practices and innovations in the medical and rehabilitation
fields. The classes are designed to be interactive since we learn from each
other as well as from presenters. Presenters for the classes are your
peers in the field who have personal and professional experience with the
specific disability being discussed.
Classes on Specific Disabilities are presented in the following format:
Medical/Psychological Implications of the Specific Disability
Limitations and Accommodations
Implications for Employment
One of the ways we choose topics for specific disability classes is from the
suggestions you give us. At the conclusion of each class you will receive an
evaluation form giving you an opportunity for constructive feedback about the
class. The evaluation form also requests suggestions for class topics. These
suggestions and recommendations provide the feedback we need to remain “in the
loop” and to provide the training you need to stay informed.
Each class in Vocational Implications of Specific Disabilities provides CRC
credits. Click for schedule and more details about each class.
CURRENTS is always looking for presenters who have experience and knowledge
about a specific disability, and would like to share that expertise with
others. If you are interested and would like more information about being a
presenter, contact Peggy Hale at

A series of classes designed to meet the immediate training needs of
professionals in the disability, counseling and rehabilitation field.
Aptly named Hot Topics the material presents changes in thought processes, best
practices, and innovations within the rehabilitation profession.
Classes designed to keep you on the cutting edge such as
- Classes on ethics that present the opportunity to work through real examples of
ethical dilemmas that you struggle with every day
- Classes that provide information on the most up-to-date medical practices from
presenters who have personal and professional knowledge of the subject matter.
Hot Topics are designed for anyone in the rehabilitation field who is committed
to staying ahead of the information avalanche that is always threatening to
overtake us in this field.
In addition, a more informal series, Independent Living Conversations, is offered throughout the year with no registration required. This series provides a peer mentoring hotline for anyone interested in independent living topics.
