Services

The University of Arkansas CURRENTS offers the Bridgeworks Learning Series using a telephone “bridge” line that allows multiple user access to training at the same time. BridgeWorks provides convenient access to a variety of topics. Each month classes are offered in Vocational Implications of Specific Disabilities and Hot Topics. Participants may earn Certified Rehabilitation Counselor or other continuing education credits upon successful completion of class requirements.

In addition, a more informal series, Independent Living Conversations, is offered throughout the year with no registration required. This series provides a peer mentoring hotline for anyone interested in independent living topics.

Schedules for all BridgeWorks Learning Series are posted on the U of A CURRENTS website at www.rcep6.org.

Features

You can choose a topic and time that fits your schedule. After completing the registration process, you will receive the bridge line number and code to access your class as well as course materials and any further information.

Most class sessions are scheduled for one hour. The number of sessions for each class varies depending on the topic. The classes are facilitated by an experienced trainer who is considered a subject matter expert in the topic area.

Registration fees cover all training materials and instruction. You (or your sponsor/employer) are responsible for the long distance charges to access each class by phone.

Benefits

BridgeWorks provides you with an in-depth learning experience, access to “subject matter experts,” and a convenient approach that makes information available anywhere you need to access it. Training is as close as the telephone with long distance charges and registration fees as your only expense. Choose from a variety of topics and earn continuing education credits quickly at a low cost. Your learning experience will be enhanced by interaction with the class facilitator and other participants in a community of practice.

Using the Bridge Line

Pick up your telephone. If you have call waiting, please disable it first by dialing *70 and wait for the dial tone.
Dial the “bridge” line telephone number and code provided by UA CURRENTS staff.
Call in at the scheduled training time. Do not call early. Wait until you are welcomed by the facilitator. You may call in late. Other participants will hear a “beep” that alerts the facilitator that someone has just dialed in on the teletraining.
The teletraining “bridge” telephone service system is automatic. There is no operator. Please do not call the “bridge” number provided to you at any other time. Call only at your scheduled teletraining time.
If you are the first person to call in on the scheduled class, please hold until the facilitator/ comes on the line.

Tips for BridgeWorks Participants

Please do not use a speakerphone during the sessions. The sound is annoying and produces “feedback” noise.
If you have a two-line phone or other phones in your office, room or home, please turn off all ringers before calling in to your scheduled teletraining.
If you are using a headset with your telephone, please ensure that it is close to your mouth in order to increase the clarity and volume of your voice.
Please refrain from breathing directly into the telephone mouthpiece so as to maintain a clear “noise free” teletraining.
You will receive coaching by your instructor as to proper teletraining etiquette during your first session. Simple courtesies will enhance your enjoyment and learning.

Telephone Long Distance Charges

You or your organization will pay your respective long distance carrier service for regular long distance charges for each training session.
