About the Presenter
Kimberly Osmani
Kimberly Osmani earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Florida prior to moving to Oklahoma. While in Oklahoma, she earned a second master’s degree in Educational Administration.
In 2008, she became the Transition Coordinator for the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services where she oversees their program for serving youth across the state. She facilitates the implementation of almost 300 contracts with LEAs and Career and Technology Centers, serves on numerous state committees, and makes presentations on the local, state, and national levels. Currently, she is part of a national task force initiated by Texas DARS and CURRENTS in Arkansas that is making recommendations in transition policy for the reauthorization of the Rehabilitation Act.
Kimberly spent 10 years in the classroom as a special education teacher. Her first year was in an elementary classroom of students in K-5 with emotional disturbances; then high school 9-12 with the same population; and finally, middle school 6-8 where she looped with her students who had specific learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, other health impairments, and some physical disabilities. From there, she spent four years at the Oklahoma State Department of Education working in special education—from monitoring and compliant investigation to Associate State Director overseeing a team who focused on data collection and reporting, secondary transition, personnel development, grants, and mental health.
