Your Connection to Learning

PRESENTER PACKAGE

Thinking About a Teleclass?

We are pleased to invite you to conduct a teleclass for our BridgeWorks Learning Series.  The University of Arkansas CURRENTS relies on experienced, knowledgeable professionals such as you to provide staff training and development in the rehabilitation field. The BridgeWorks Learning Series offers a convenient, accessible, and inexpensive option for rehabilitation professionals to obtain knowledge of current issues while earning credit for certification or licensure.

In our BridgeWorks Learning Series on Vocational Implications of Specific Disabilities, we provide the opportunity to hear directly from practitioners. Your experiences and knowledge regarding this particular disability will increase the knowledge base for class participants as well as improve their skills in delivering services to people with disabilities. To help as you consider presenting for our BridgeWorks Learning Series, please review the following information. We can discuss this further by phone.

Class Format

The Vocational Implications of Specific Disabilities Series classes are presented in the following format:

  • Medical/Psychological Implications of Disability
  • Limitations and Accommodations
  • Implications for Employment

An outline is attached for your use in course development.

The class may be scheduled for at least three hours or longer if necessary. Participants earn one hour of CRC Credit for each class hour.

We limit enrollment to 25 participants per class but sometimes exceptions are made for a few more.  Adult learners benefit from interactive classes and we have learned some helpful techniques for encouraging participation in a conference call setting.  I will be happy to discuss this with you if you decide to present a teleclass.

Materials

Handouts:
CURRENTS staff will distribute the class materials to participants.  It is important that you have all materials in electronic format to us no later than one week before the beginning of the class to allow participants time to review the material before class begins. It will also give us adequate time to arrange any special accommodation request.

Class Roster:
You will receive a class roster and notification of any accommodations needed by participants. (Notification of accommodations will be for your reference. The CURRENTS office will arrange all needed accommodations.) Please use the roster to keep track of participation in class discussion and for attendance at the beginning and the end of each session.

Marketing Materials:
These are needed for distribution 8 weeks prior to the class and include:

  • A brief description of the class and class title
  • A short bio/resume of experience/education
  • A recent digital photo

The Bridge Line

All participants, including the presenter, call in to a central number. Each caller is responsible for long distance charges. As a presenter you may use a calling card provided by the U of A CURRENTS if needed.

Please access our website at http://www.rcep6.org/ for additional information about using the bridge line.

Let’s talk soon about setting up a class.

I am looking forward to working with you on this project and hope you will decide to present. Your expertise on this much-needed topic will be valuable to our participants.
