Facilitators

Bob Kafka, ADAPT

And

Judy Telge, Coastal Bend Center for Independent Living

Join us, Discuss, and Learn in our Nov. and Dec. IL Conversations:

-Why would a CIL want to get into the delivery of community long term services and supports?  What is in it for the consumer, the CIL, and the long term service and support system?

-How to create and facilitate an Alliance of Community Integration Providers with the goal to create an empowered service delivery system.  What are the obvious and not so obvious benefits and pay offs for the consumer and the CIL.

-How an Alliance of Community Integration Providers can energize, strategize, and gain power in order to demedicalized the state Medicaid community long term service and supports delivery system.

-Who controls the money?  Dealing with the HMOs, the state, and others without losing your IL soul (principles) – conversion from the current traditional, paternalistic and medical delivery system models to one that includes independent living principles

Call in from a quiet location and join the discussion or

feel free to anonymously listen in.

IL Conversations, hosted by the University of Arkansas CURRENTS, are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month.  IL Conversations provide IL practitioners with an opportunity to talk with colleagues about the nuts and bolts of running a center for independent living and providing core and other services, as well as, to address broader state and national issues impacting CILs, SILCs, and people with disabilities.

To join your colleagues in discussing this month's IMPORTANT Independent Living issue, call the CURRENTS Bridgeline, (904) 357-8714, on November 9 at 3:00 pm CENTRAL Time. This is not a toll free call. Your regular long distance charges will apply.

There is no registration fee.

Simply call in from a quiet location and join the discussion or just listen in.

Watch for our next IL Conversation Announcement!

Different facilitators who are currently working in the field will join us each month to lead the discussion, answer questions and refer participants to additional resources.

HOPE YOU JOIN US!
